Art for a Cause

Corina Hazlett was guest artist at the Rangiora Art Society Spring Exhibition. Corina recently completed a butterfly art project with local children aged five to 12, raising awareness for meningitis. The butterfly artwork was inspired by close friends Claire and Gerard Rushton, and their daughter Courtenay who died from meningitis in January 2014. The butterfly is a symbol of journey and change. Corina, and the children she worked with, created over 100 butterflies, each hand painted. They decorate a soft net that falls from a hoop and can be hung from a ceiling. The artwork was offered up for silent auction with proceeds being donated to the Meningitis Foundation.
