Meningitis Foundation Hosts Launch of VaxiMate
4 March 2015

The Meningitis Foundation proudly hosted the New Zealand launch of VaxiMate, an immunisation reminder and information app.

Emma Brannam (TV3 tech reviewer) set the scene with insight to the use of smartphones to manage our families health and wellbeing.

Dr Adrian Trenholme (Paediatrician and Senior Clinican at KidzFirst Hospital) followed with details of the NZ MoH immunisation targets, and the importance of on-time and complete immunisation.

Dr Emma Best (Infectious Diseases Paediatrician at Starship Children's Hospital) talked about the presence of vaccine preventable diseases in our community (whooping couch, measles, tetanus, meningitis) and the importance of vaccination.

Dr Helen Petousis-Harris (Director of Immunisation Research and Vaccinology at IMAC) provided data to support the control of disease via vaccination, showed us the stats according to socioeconomic and ethnic groups across NZ, and reinforced the message to get our most vulnerable children vaccinated on time.

Melissa McGregor from Pfizer talked about the app itself, the development process, its features and benefits.

Gorgeous mum Zoe and daughter Jess tried out the app and showed us all how easy it is to use.

We are proud to get behind this initiative, to support disease prevention, and encourage you to download the app. It's FREE!
